Population < 15 years: 18.3%
Birth rate: 10.09 per 1000
Life expectancy at birth: 74.2 years

Prevalence of Goiter/ UIE

140 mcg/L UI reported as 136-144 mcg/L.

Previous report 130-143 mcg/L, 3 sites ThyroMobil (1995); 51% below 100 mcg/L, 15% below 50 (1994).

Survey of general population in region where IDD was once endemic revealed a TGR of only 5.2% for 13 year olds. Large goiters are rare.

Iodized salt Coverage

Household iodized salt use: 85%

Salt Situation Analysis
