U.N. Special Session on Children, May 8th, 2002. "Salt iodization in Europe is compulsory in some countries and voluntary in others. European salt producers understand its importance and are active in fighting iodine deficiency on their home ground. They understand the technology, accept the responsibility, get the message out, and supply technology to those who need it... Salt producers can, and will, assist countries, governments, national producers, and their associations who need help with iodization technology. Our members will react positively to this committment. It has happened before... My colleagues and I are ready to do this again and again and again."
